Ball mill in the Philippines

Ball mill in the Philippines for copper ore processing

Ball mill is the most widely used grinding machine. It is widely used in the mine ore mining and processing, cement plant and nonmetal powder manufacturing plant. According to the working principle , ball mill is divided into wet and dry ball mill.

Wet ball mill

Based on accepted milling techniques, we have found the following viscosities measured at milling temperature usually work out best:

  • For flint pebbles/ porcelain balls 600 to 1100 centipoises
  • For high density balls, 1100 to 2100 centipoises
  • For steel balls 1100 to 2400 centipoises
Dry ball mill

Whenever there is a choice between grinding a product wet or dry, wet grinding will generally prove better. However, in many cases, it is impractical to grind wet due to the nature of the process or product.

Ball Mill is widely used in cement, silicate products, new building materials, refractory materials, fertilizer, black and non-ferrous metal processing and glass ceramic production industry.

Ball mill for copper ore Concentrating in the Philippines

Ball mill is the main grinding mill used in copper ore concentrating plant in the Philippines for extracting copper from copper ore varies according to the type of ore and the desired purity of the final product.

The Philippines ranked second in the Asia-Pacific region, after Indonesia, in terms of mineral prospectivity and resources. Copper and gold were the principal commodities. Copper, from northern Luzon, Cebu, Negros, Marinduque, and Mindanao, was the leading mineral; Gold output, from northern Luzon, Mindanao, Masbate, and the Negros islands, was 36,513 kg.

The Philippines reportedly had the world's largest source of refractory chromite, from Masinloc, and substantial resources of copper, gold, nickel, and silver. The Philippines also produced sizable quantities of metallurgic chromite, from western Luzon.

The copper ores are firstly crushed in a series of cone crushers, the the crushed ore is then ground even smaller by a series of mills. First, it is mixed with water and placed in a rod mill. As the cylinder rotates on its horizontal axis, the steel rods tumble and break up the ore into pieces about 0.13 in (3 mm) in diameter. The mixture of ore and water is further broken up in two ball mills, which are like a rod mill except steel balls are used instead of rods. The slurry of finely ground ore that emerges from the final ball mill contains particles about 0.01 in (0.25 mm) in diameter.

The copper ore powder go through flotation for concentrating. The copper ore concentrate go through Smelting, refining, casting to make ingots, cakes, billets, or rods depending on the final application.

SBM is crusher and grinding mill manufacturer in China, and offer types of crusher, ball mills for copper ore mining, processing plant in United States, Chile, Russia, Canada, and China for copper producing.
